Round Rock, TX, October 5, 2008. Bob Eskridge, President of Eskridge & Associates returned this week from Austin, TX, where he attended the B2G Institute Seminar on how to do business with the government.
The course was over three full days walking businesses through the maze of government contracting. Day 1 covered assessing the Opportunity by reviewing the Federal Acquisition Regulations, conducting a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis of the company and finally analyzing the company’s unique selling proposition and how we can plug into the process. Day 2 was how to market the business, understanding the GSA schedule process, finding opportunities, creating marketing materials specific to the needs of the government and finally how to market to the government effectively. Day 3 went over how to bid and win contracts, thus building the business. They learned the pre-bid process, how to respond to a RFP, financial considerations, how bids are evaluated and finally taking the next steps.
Bob Eskridge says,” ….although we have been very successful in winning contracts with the federal government, I found the information I learned this weekend to be invaluable in determining other federal, state and local agencies who can use our services and how to effectively market to them.”
